Connect Your Child's Phone to Kroni With a Code or Link

Step 1: Pick the right child profile on your phone

Go to the children in your family and open the profile for this particular child. If you have more than one child, look closely at the name before you go on. Pairing connects the phone to whichever profile you have open. If you're on the wrong sibling, the wrong tasks and the wrong balance end up on the phone.

From the child profile, open the screen for connecting your child's device. That's where you'll find the pairing code.

Step 2: Get the code, link or QR code

The pairing screen gives you several ways to pass on the same details:

A few things worth knowing:

• A child link is not an adult invitation. The link from the pairing screen connects a phone to one specific child profile. Inviting another adult is a different process, and that invitation shouldn't go to your child.
• Share only with your child's own phone. The code and link give access to the profile, so don't post them in a family group chat or take a screenshot of them.
• Check the expiry time on screen. Pairing details don't last forever. Finish while they're still valid.

Step 3: Open the child role on your child's phone

On your child's phone, open the app and choose the option for children. If you choose adult here, you'll land in a sign-in that doesn't belong to this job.

Then use the method you picked:

• Code: Type it exactly as it appears on your screen.
• Link or text message: Open the link on your child's phone. If you end up somewhere other than the app, go back, open the app, choose the child role and use the code instead.
• QR code: Scan the code on your screen. If that doesn't work, use the code or the link. They do the same job.

Step 4: Final check of the name and one familiar task

Pairing isn't done until you've confirmed the phone is connected to the right child. Use these three checks:

1. The name: Does your child's name show on the phone? Ask them, "Is that you?"
2. The task: Is the task you added before you started on the list?
3. Test run: Let your child mark an easy task as done once it has actually been done. If that task requires approval, it should appear on your phone and wait for you. Otherwise it follows the automatic completion you set up.

If the name is wrong, check which child profile you selected before creating new pairing details. If the name is right but the task is missing, check that it is assigned to that child, is due to appear today, and that both devices are connected. A missing task does not necessarily mean pairing went wrong.

When the code has expired or been replaced

This often happens when you get interrupted halfway through. Here's what to do:

• Go back to your child's pairing screen on your phone.
• Create new pairing details.
• Use only the newest code, link or QR code. An old text or link from yesterday may no longer work.
• Repeat steps 3 and 4.

The newest code is the one that counts. If you sent a link earlier, tell your child so they don't tap the old one.

After pairing

Once the phone is connected, it shows your child's own view. There your child sees their tasks, marks them as done and keeps track of their virtual balance and savings goals. If you've chosen to require approval for tasks, you approve them from your phone. Kroni keeps track of virtual coins only. Any real money, whether cash or a transfer, is something you agree on and pay yourself outside the app.
